Dr. Jamil Adimin
Brief profile:
Dr Jamil Adimin was a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Malaysia Examinations Council (MEC) from April 7, 2014 to July 18, 2016. Three years after his retirement he was invited to join Education Service Commission as the member of the commission for three-year contract. His appointment was based on his experience and expertise in several areas including Mathematics and Physics, Educational Measurement and Assessment, policy and educational leadership and management. Being the CEO of MEC for more than two years, he had made several changes for the developments of examinations system at post-secondary education in Malaysia, particularly the development of Malaysia Higher School Certificate or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
Dr Jamil obtained his PhD in Educational Measurement and Assessment from Manchester University in the United Kingdom, Master’s degree in Measurement and Educational Assessment from National University of Malaysia and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from University of Malaya, Malaysia. He attended many seminars, conferences and courses organised by local and international institutions. He visited more than 20 countries for official purposes and made friends with professionals in various fields.
He used to serve as the Education Ministry’s deputy director of training at Institute Aminudin Baki (IAB) and deputy director of policies at the Schools Management Division before his appointment as CEO of MEC. He presented several papers on various areas of education at national as well as international seminars and conferences.
After retirement he still active in the world of education. He is Senior Vice President to Khidmat Nurani Khalifah Total Assessment (KNKTA) and advisor to various organizations. Currently he is the exco member of Malaysian Association for Education (MAE). He is also Chairman of Tebuk Mufrad Mosque Sabak Bernam for 2022-2025 Session.
