Dr. Tamilselvan Ramis
Brief profile:
Dr. TamilSelvan Ramis (Dr. Selvan) is an educational psychologist, psychology lecturer, education consultant, and HRDC trainer with a deep passion for transformative teaching and learning. He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Universiti Malaya (UM), a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice (Distinction) from Sunway University (SU), an MEd in Educational Psychology from UM, and a BA (Hons – Class 1) in Psychology from the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Selvan is also a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA).
With over a decade of experience teaching psychology at pre-university and undergraduate levels, Dr. Selvan is committed to developing innovative pedagogical approaches, including gamification, and fostering students’ holistic development. He has been recognized with several awards, such as the Award for Excellence in Teaching (Commendation) and the Student Appreciation of Teaching Award (2022, 2023, 2024).
In his professional capacity, Dr. Selvan contributes to the development of educational materials for leading organizations like Cambridge University Press & Assessment, and he regularly conducts training programs for professionals focused on enhancing learning and engagement. He serves as a General Committee Member of the Malaysia Educational Psychology Society and leads the Course Working Group for the CERTE (Connecting and Equipping Refugees for Tertiary Education) program. Additionally, he conducts special needs assessments for primary school pupils in collaboration with the Selangor State Education Department and acts as a reviewer for academic journals and curriculum review panels.
Dr. Selvan is an International Affiliate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and a Registered Psychologist with the Malaysian Psychological Association (PSIMA).
